This message was delivered about 30 minutes after this one. Dana met with an assembly in Richmond to fellowship around the ministry of God's word. This message begins and ends with a short question and answer time. In between, Dana shares about the practical practice of taking a ministry from a personal burden to a practical word to an assembly.
Dana covers some questions to ask yourself about a ministry when preparing it. These questions are:
Am I asking a question or revealing an answer.
Is my main thought clearly presented.
Do the scriptures used focus or obscure the main thought.
How is Christ made central.
Was a clear application made.
He gives some warnings in regards to any minstry:
Beware of chasing side issues.
Don't go beyond the life of the message. Don't speak for 45 minutes when the burden on goes for 15.
Watch out for vague expressions such as: 'Go to the Lord', 'Seek the Lord'. Our terminology can obscure our message.
Does the illustration fit.
Am I feeding the sheep or clubbing the goats.
Deal with your sense of inadequacy before, not during, the message.
