Stephen Kaung shared seven messages on family in Washington, D.C. beginning in September, 1974. Thirty years have passed since these messages were spoken, however, they are as relevant today as they were then. The concept of family originates from God Himself. This sixth message in the series shows the relationship between parents and children.
As Stephen Kaung shared: "Family is not something accidental, nor is it something that originates from the will of the parents. It is not something initiated by the emotions of a man and a woman, nor is it governed by the customs of this world. Family originates from God. It is a divine concept. The Bible tells us very clearly that family is God's idea; it is not man's idea. Even in the very beginning when God created man, He had that concept in Himself."
This message is also printed in booklet form under the title: God's Purpose for the Family.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. 21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
