But the just shall live by faith; and, if he draw back, my soul does not take pleasure in him” (Hebrews 10:38). The Lord expects us to live by faith. Oftentimes, when we think of this word “live by faith” our impression is that there are a few people who live by faith, which means that they do no work, and they live by trussing the Lord to supply their needs. That is their conception of living by faith; but that is not the Scriptural interpretation. By the grace of God every believer lives by faith. If you are not living by faith, what are you living by? You are living by your self and not trusting the Lord for your life.
Stephen Kaung spoke the messages contained in this booklet at the Northeast Christian weekend conference in Long Beach Island, New Jersey in October 2013. The spoken words have been transcribed by permission with only minimal editing for clarity. Unless otherwise indicated Scripture quotations are from the New Translation by J. N. Darby.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
